The big apple. The city that never sleeps. An absolute dream for any photographer.

Mid-July my friends and I decided to book a last-minute girls trip to New York! We had been wanting to do a girls trip for a while and with the affordable rates of JetBlue, the decision was pretty easy for New York as our destination. We planned for a 5-night, 4-day trip & I have to be honest - planning it was not easy. The last time I went to New York was for my friends’ birthday when I was 14. No planning was required and her parents arranged for everything.

When you start to Google where to stay, what to do, best restaurants, etc. - you get overwhelmed with choices. Where do you even start? Well, we found out that you start with Social Media. Train that algorithm of yours to show you tips for the destination you’re going to. After hours on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, talking to friends who’ve been, and checking out event pages such as TimeOut, we finally figured out a rough itinerary. I started pinning the sight-seeing spots and restaurants onto Google Maps and we decided that Chelsea was the area we wanted to stay. We booked an Airbnb and were finally ready to go.

Day One included: Walking through our neighborhood, bagels & funky cream cheese options, citi bikes, Central Park, Upper East Side, Grand Central Station, a cable car ride, Bryant Park, Faicco’s famous Italian sandwich, drinks in The Village, a gallery opening in Chelsea, dinner in the Financial District, and The Summit. Fair to say - we did a lot on day one. We walked 33,000 steps that day.

Day Two included: the best bagels of the trip, The Chelsea High Line, Chelsea Market, Pier 57, Little Island, walk through SoHo, lunch in ChinaTown, pizza’s, and a comedy show. Another day where we walked 31,000 steps.

Day Three included: Biking over the Brooklyn Bridge (pro-tip, just walk it. Or at least use the electrical bike), brunch in Brooklyn, market in Brooklyn, afternoon in Williamsburg, sunset walk over Brooklyn bridge, dinner in Brooklyn, and ended the day in Dumbo. Basically just spent the day in Brooklyn.

We walked 27,000 steps on day 3.

Day Four Included: One last bagel stop for breakfast, walk through the East Village, photobooth, a tour from the Tenement Museum, revisited Chelsea market to have lunch, a walk from Chelsea Market to SoHo, more pizza, the Statue of Liberty with the Ferry.

We walked 30,000 steps on our final day.

I just loved the facades of shops and restaurants in every part of the city.

If you made it this far in the blog. Thank you for being here. This was a tough one to keep short and to the point! I might just unpack the itinerary a bit more in a future post. We packed all of our personal must-sees into 4 unforgettable days and saw so much of the city - and it still doesn’t feel like we saw enough.

I can’t recommend this city enough.

With much love,

Ashley
