First Time Using an Underwater Housing
As a creative you always want to explore new frontiers and try out new gear. For us, living on an island, that means underwater photography. Underwater photography, besides using our GoPro a few times, is something that we knew nothing about. The only thing we knew: you need an underwater housing.
The cost of an underwater housing is basically like buying a new camera… Since we’re not divers, free divers, or even snorkelers, we never thought of buying one ourselves. But, we always liked the thought of using one. Last Saturday, we had a job that required a few underwater shots. In theory, the GoPro would have shot good enough photos. But - we wanted to go the extra mile and decided: Now is the time to finally use an underwater housing.
But midway through the job, it got cancelled due to weather….
Since we had already rented the underwater housing, we did not want to let this opportunity slide and decided to test it out either way. Without even knowing if our lenses would fit in the housing, we ran with it and ended up at Porto Marie Beach on a super cloudy afternoon. Turns out, only our 50mm lens fit in the housing (not the ideal lens for underwater, but we made it work). After sealing the underwater housing, we dipped our camera into the water for the very first time!
Here are the results:
Although the weather conditions weren’t perfect, we love how these turned out. I think we’ll be renting the underwater housing soon again!
If you’re looking to shoot some underwater photography, let us know!
